(From 2012 Vintage) Bright red-ruby. At once riper and more medicinal on the nose than the 2011, offering aromas of plum syrup, blueberry and spices. Firm and nicely refined, with an attractive juicy quality to the black fruit and spice flavors. Finishes with rather suave tannins. This cuvee seems to be better than ever, as Bo Barrett has done a good job of leavening the concentrated, black mountain fruit with the softer tannins of cabernet from the valley floor.
This wine has a very inky color, dense to the edge of the glass. The nose is very strong varietal Cabernet fruit cassis (or currant), earthy and also has some pepper. The vintage style is highlighted in the very balanced structure, rich and round with lots of fruit. The texture has an open front and that full body feel follows through to the finish.
