2001 Chateau Durfort-Vivens Grand Cru Classe Margaux

Wine Description

(From 2003 Vintage) Beautifully focused, the fruit is tightly integrated and balances purity and elegance with evident structure on the finish.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2006 Vintage) Fine aromatic nose of cedar, coffee, fruit compote laced with a herbal note. Nicely fine tannins and a nice core of sweet yet fresh fruit. Vigorous and confident red with a lovely balance. Has a lot of finesse and concentration.

Rating: 4/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Full colour, quite big extraction with fine violetty fruit on the nose, a little meaty on the palate, but fine Margaux elegance and well-balanced tannins, good grip and depth and quite long term. (Tasted en primeur)
