(From 2012 Vintage) We source the grapes for Modus from Ruffino’s Poggio Casciano estate and other selected vineyards. The three grape varieties that comprise its blend—Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon--are aged separately in small French and American oak casks for approximately 12 months before they are blended and bottled.
Modus was first produced in 1997 and is the latest arrival among the top quality wines marketed under the "Tenimenti Ruffino" brand. It is also the only Ruffino wine that is a blend of three grape varieties. Modus is the result of the combination of Chianti Sangiovese with two varieties originally from France and with a new homeland in Tuscany: Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon.
