(From 2002 Vintage) Direct ripe-cherry fruitiness is met by suggestions of chocolate and a fair measure of creamy oak here, and, by all counts the wine makes a fairly good start. It runs afoul of overly prominent tannins at the finish, however, and its fruit stalls out to dryness and scant heat.
