Everyone agrees that Alec is one sweet kid, and his blend from the 2000 vintage is the wine equivalent of "wild mountain blackberry" - a favorite flavor ice cream from childhood. 70% Syrah and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon the wine is opulent, ripe and seductive with cedar-laced oak spice aromas, coffee shadings and scoopfuls of juicy black fruit. The plush palate packs a chocolate truffle surprise with great length and soft, chewy tannins. 500 cases produced.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2002 Vintage) There is no getting around the fact that this very showy bottling owes much to its lavish oak, but in the nose, flavor and finish, it delivers all of the well-defined fruit that any would-be critic will want. Big-bodied and very broad-shouldered with a rich, fleshy feel, it is a mouthfilling wine that continues the winery's long run of red wine successes, and its impressive sense of structure, strength and riveting depth are sure to keep it going for decade or more.
