At first sniff an intriguing combination of smoked meat, raspberry jam, caramel, dried herbs and toasted oak awaken the olfactory senses. Well integrated tannins balance with the ripe fruit and conclude with a lingeringfinish that is accented with sweet oak. Rating: 88/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 105, November/December 2002. ($46) Good medium ruby. Black fruits, violet, smoked meat, dark chocolate and a hint of bell pepper on the nose. Firm-edged, fairly dense flavors of black plum, baking chocolate and fresh herbs offer a nicely restrained sweetness. Finishes with firm tannins and good shape.
