2000 Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley

Wine Description

(From 2008 Vintage) Spice -- a hint of tobacco, a hint of milk chocolate -- gives way to a ripe set of fruit flavors in this big shouldered, thoroughly seductive red. This texture is driven by fine, peppery tannins, which stem the tide of ripe, plummy fruit, giving the wine a touch of elegance even as it remains irresistible.

Winemaker's Notes

Sweet wood, clove and cassis aromas introduce the dark, ripe stone and berry fruit flavors. Complex notes of toasty oak and vanilla meld with supple tannins to give this cabernet a long and graceful finish.-Ron Bunnell, Winemaker

14% Cabernet Franc; 1% Syrah. Tasting all too much like the inexpensive wine that it is, Chateau Ste. Michelle's basic bottling is on the skimpy side with respect to fruit and comes up thin, blunt and a little too dry in the mouth.
