(From 2008 Vintage) A sweet, complex nose of liqueur, rich oak, black cherry and meat. Nice harmony, texture and elegance to this lovely quintessential Pomerol. Has spice and vigour with firm tannins to give grip.
(From 2006 Vintage) The vineyards of Chateau La Croix du Casse extends to the southern tip of the Pomerol plateau, on soils composed of gravel and ancient sands with an undercoat a good proportion of iron oxide . The property was acquired by the family in 2005. Philippe Castéja dice Castéja when beginning to perform work to upgrade this property . Château la Croix du Casse is a charming wine and seduction, a product rich with finesse , very representative of its terroir
Wine Spectator"A powerful and muscular young red. Very ripe, with smoky, meaty and berry aromas. Full-bodied, thick and powerful. What a mouthful. Velvety. Rich aftertaste. Best after 2008. 4,330 cases made. - JS"
DecanterRating: 3/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Plenty of rich, ripe fruit, round, medium acidity with flush of alcohol on the finish. Ready 2007-2009. (tasted en primeur)
