2000 Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Wine Description

(From 2008 Vintage) Open fruit, rich, lush and layered, serving up a complex mix of plum, blackberry, black licorice and spices. Full-bodied and supple-textured, ending with a long, persistent finish that keeps repeating the core flavor themes.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2003 Vintage) The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection offers up scents of licorice, black currants, spice box, and a hint of flowers. This deep, full-bodied, chunky 2003 should last for 13-15 years. Intense, complex and concentrated, with a vibrant stack of flavors built around currant, blackberry and wild berry, with pretty oak nuances on the finish, along with ripe, firm tannins. Excellent sample.

Although it appears to be fully mature, it will last fo...

(From 2002 Vintage) There are arguments to be made that this inviting young wine is a little too forward and too reliant on oak, but for all of its debt to sweet, creamy spice, it is solidly fruity at its heart and has the extract good Cabernet Sauvignon needs. It is quite ripe, fairly full in the mouth and surprisingly supple for such a young wine, yet it is anything but frontal or one to be gulped down in haste. We expect it to shine after only few years of age, but it has the kind of depth and genuine fruit subst...
