1999 Shafer Relentless Napa Valley

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2011 Vintage) This latest Relentless is all about rich, ripe elegance offering alluring aromas and flavors of classic Syrah meatiness along with black plum, black pepper, black fig, smoke, forest floor and subtle black truffle. The mouthfeel is seamless and round from front of the palate through the finish with a texture that is liquid silk. The finish lingers on and on. This vintage will continue to offer new pleasures with more time in the cellar.”

Hints of chocolate, complex and a velvety finish. Holding on to this for a special occasion.

(From 2004 Vintage) "A blend of 76% Syrah and 24% Petite Sirah, the open-knit 2004 Relentless exhibits aromas of blackberry pie intermixed with roasted meats and ground pepper. An expressive, full-bodied, smoky, flamboyant, intense effort that is more evolved and approachable than vintages such as 2003 and 2001, it is a stunningly aromatic, rich wine to drink over the next 10-15 years."
