We like Merlots that have lots of black fruit flavor and chewy texture and our Estate Merlot consistently achieves this. We use about 85% French oak with about 15% American oak to give just a touch of sweet oak impression. The 1998 Merlot was bottled with no fining and minimal filtration to retain all its deep fruity characteristics. Blending enhanced the character while preserving the drinkability of this wine.
