(From 2005 Vintage) In 2005, weather, budbreak and set were ideal, allowing us to harvest quality grapes and to reduce intervention in the cellar. Dominus 2005 is dark red, almost deep crimson in color. The nose is dense and compact, filled with dark berries, blond tobacco, black cherries and cacao. The entry is both powerful and supple, spherical in quality. Perfectly ripe, the enveloped tannins are firm, rounded and elegant. Black fruit and licorice linger throughout the evolution in mouth, well-balanced and harmonious. A superb vintage. The 2005 blend consists of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. No Merlot was used in the blend this year. This wine clearly has tremendous aging potential. We recommend decanting the wine prior to serving, to allow it to develop its full potential. This is especially important when serving young Dominus wines.
Medium to deep garnet color. Dried cherry, mulberry, loam, espresso and tobacco aromas with a hint of dried mint. On the palate a savory / meaty character comes through. A firm backbone of high acidity and a medium+ level of firm tannins give good structure. Medium to full bodied, very long finish.
The last vintage of the century will be remembered for its exceptional quality. This vintage was characterized by its extremely long growing season - a season where patience eventually paid dividends in the form of wine with outstanding character and complexity. The 1999 vintage is beautifully harmonious with an inviting color and a very full body. This wine starts with a delicate entry of black cherry aromas, evolving toward impressively structured tannins. The long, fragrant finish reveals ...
Medium red-ruby. Spicy red- and blackcurrant, plum, currant leaf and mocha on the claret-like nose. Dense and rich, with spicy red berry and lightly floral flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity....
13% Cabernet Franc; 9% Merlot; 3% Petit Verdot. Dominus, it seems, is a typically a wine that defies simple description, and it more often than not has pieces to love and some to hate. In this incarna...

Wine & Spirits(From 2006 Vintage) Rating: 93/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 10/09. Youthfully floral and tight, this vintage of Dominus is a big wine that holds all of its weight behind a powerful structure. And it's the power of that structure that is front and center-red apple-skin acidity and walnut-skin tannin-needing a ribeye with plenty of fat to bring the fruit out of its cage. Stay with it and the wine's earthiness begins to meld with the blueberry and chocolate richness. But it's all completely primary. Put this away for ten years, and drink the Napanook while it matures.
