Wine Description

The beautiful 1999 Mouton Rothschild may be a modern day clone of their 1962 or 1985. Its saturated ruby/purple color is followed by sumptuous aromas of cedar wood, creme de cassis, wood smoke, coffee, and dried herbs. The wine is forward, lush, and full-bodied. It is already complex as well as succulent, fleshy, and long.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2009 Vintage) Seductive blackcurrant cabernet on the nose; beautifully balanced, richly supple wine with a fresh acidity and an especially fine tannin; ripe, savory blackcurrant Cabernet flavour, long and subtle across the palate, discreet, elegant, polished, understated; long and graceful, gently spicy and scented, with no over extract, a particularly juicy complexity and lovely fragrant fruit length. A very beautiful rather than a powerful expression of Mouton.

(From 2005 Vintage) This is a presale offer! Full payment is required on all presales. Wine is due in Spring/Summer of 2008."A superb Mouton, the 2005 is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and a dollop of Cabernet Franc. Under the new administrator, Philippe Dalhuin, the strictest selection of any recent vintage was instituted (64% of the production was used), and the 2005's 13.5% natural alcohol is one of the highest ever achieved at this estate. While not as good as the 1986 or 1982, the 2005 is a b...
