Château Léoville Las Cases St.-Julien
Superb Bordeaux at a great price! A high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon makes this a rich and fruity wine with classed Saint Julien cassis-like flavor. Classically structured, a beauty for mid-term aging (4-7 years).
International Wine CellarRating: 92/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 102, May/June 2002 Full ruby-red. Captivating nose of roasted currant, cedar and minerals, with a floral lift; quite fresh for the year. Sweet, supple, dense and full, with no dip in the middle. This is impressively chewy and concentrated for a '99. Finishes long and flavorful, with sweet, building tannins.
DecanterRating: 3/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Relatively sturdy, with rich bramble fruit, sustained acidity, and firm, meaty flesh - a knife-and-fork bottle.
