Chateau Clinet Pomerol

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2012 Vintage) Spring’s extreme weather conditions caused concern that with such excessive heat this would be a tricky vintage to manage. In this particular climatic context, Château CLINET adapted its cultural strategy to make sure of an even ripening of the grapes. Summer was without excessively hot weather which helped the maturity to proceed homogeneously. The harvest was the earliest ever recorded at the property. It began on September 7, and finished with the legendary 75 year-old vines on the Pomerol plateau.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(2006 Vintage) 85% Merlot; 10% Cabernet Sauvignon; 5% Cabernet Franc. As is the case with most of the wines in our brief sampling of 2006 Pomerols, Clinet leads with lightly herbal, red cherry aromas that smack faintly of dried brush and celery seed. It is not an especially big or gutsy wine, but it is nicely polished and its tannins are well-fit to its soft-spoken fruit. A bit of polish is already evident, and it needs fairly brief aging.
