Winemaker's Notes

An ebullient bouquet of blackberry and plum unfurls on tendrils of leather and peppered tobacco. This wines boldness continues in a burst of black cherry in the mouth, gaining immediate balance from restrained tannins that carry the fruit gently through a velvety finish. Try with boeuf Bourguignon or goat cheese and grilled vegetable pizza.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2001 Vintage) Here is a mid-sized Merlot that eschews strength and evident extract in favor of polish. Its mild black-cherry themes are given a lift by slightly creamy oak, and, if tending a little to dryness at the finish, it is a pleasant, lightly tannic and wholly useful wine for near- to mid-term drinking.
