Sumptuous and elegant, the palate opens with red cherry and juicy blackberry that join with impressions of baking spice and berry cola. The complex array of flavors lasts through the long finish, framed by round tannins and integrated oak.
(From 2011 Vintage) This wine presents a beautiful opaque ruby hue in the glass as well as a bountiful bouquet that matches the intensity of its color. Lush aromas of dark currant and deep black cherry are pleasantly pronounced as they are joined by touches of fresh vanilla bean, graham cracker and toasted cinnamon. The velvety palate opens with flavors of luscious red cherry, cassis and briary blackberry fruit that melt into hints of star anise, ground clove and sweet tobacco leaf and are carried by supple tannins through the lasting finish.

Rich in oak and high in cassis-like aromas despite not being as effusively fruity as it is rich and outgoing, this wine is nicely full and supple in its early palatal impressions before firming up as it goes. Its well-focused, medium-depth flavors hold well into the finish, and, all in all, this one looks to have lots to offer now and over the next half decade or more.
