(1998 Vintage) A cool and sleek Tuscan red, with tarragon and fresh sage aromas, blackberry and cherry undertones. Full-bodied, with a wonderfully silky palate of fine tannins and a long, fruity finish. Very sophisticated and reserved.
Tasted by Vinoevelo on 3/18/2012 & rated 95 points: Decanted for 3 hours before drinking. Deep inky garnet. Very big, serious complex wine. Wonderful nose of fruit, cigar box and spice that you could get lost in for a while. Great balance and wonderful mouthfeel, tannins still not yet fully integrated. More dark fruit and spice with a bit green on the back end. The finish goes on and on. Impeccable balance and great complexity - wonderful wine that is still a baby. I wouldn't touch one for another 3-5 years. (559 views)
Still going strong, this Bolgheri Bordeaux blend of Cab & Merlot. Cassis, leather, dark fruits, and soil. Amazing - Wine Spectator 2001 Wine of the Year at 100 points.

Wine Buyer(2006 Vintage) The main characteristic of Ornellaia 2006 is without a doubt its lush depth and a-exuberancea (aLaEsuberanzaa). Here is apowerful, concentrated wine whose intensity is immediately obvious. Its complex, rich bouquet is complemented bysweet, dense-packed tannins and a lively acidity, and all of its components are in admirable harmony creating a veryelegant wine.
