Leonetti Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Details

Wine Description

The 1998 vintage was a winemakers dream in the Walla Walla Valley. The year was very warm with perfect conditions from bloom to harvest. Yields were naturally low and resulted in wines of incredible intensity, color, and fruit. Our 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon is a very dark wine with an incredible nose consisting of aromatic cedar, anise, black cherry, and balsam. This is a very distinctive wine with a rich, heavy mouth feel. This weighty palate impression is backed by high-quality, fine-grained tannins. • Wine Enthusiast
(2008 Vintage) "Dense, aromatic, layered and rich, this wine explodes from the glass with scents and flavors of concentrated berries, cassis, black cherry, and more. The vines have reached a mature stage that amplifies the fruit and keeps the generous barrel flavors in perfect balance. The barrel notes roll on in a chorus of toasty accents, and the finish is as good in the last minute as the first whiff from the glass."

  • International Wine Cellar
(2001 Vintage) Good bright medium ruby. Very dark, primary aromas of cassis, violet and bitter chocolate. Juicy and tightly wound, with sweet but firm flavors of black cherry and licorice. Dry-edged, classic, very young cabernet for the cellar. Finishes with tongue-clenching tannins and very good length. This really calls for six to eight years of bottle aging.
  • Wine & Spirits
(2007 Vintage) Rating: 90/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 10/09. This is a savory merlot, drawn from Seven Hills, Loess, Pepper Bridge and Mill Creek Upland fruit. It leads with a meaty scent, like air-dried, spice-rubbed beef; the flavors are dense and savory. With air, the dried plum and cherry fills out the formidable structure, a clear indication of a wine that will age.
