(From 2010 Vintage) Sweet floral notes and mesquite emerge in the 2010 Napanook. Generous yet restrained, the wine shows minerality and notes of dried herbs followed by caramelized orange peel, bing cherry and exotic spice flavors. The finish is long and balanced.
(From 2001 Vintage) In 1996, Christian Moueix first released Napanook, a wine specifically intended to be enjoyed in its younger years. Eight years later, Napanook has achieved near legendary status in Yountville with its blend of four varietals from vineyard lots chosen for their finesse, lively fruit and subtle tannins. Harmonious in balance, this wine is truly a pleasure to drink.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2005 Vintage) By Dominus. 76% Cabernet Sauvignon; 14% Cabernet Franc; 10% Petit Verdot. Although it opens first with a comparatively complex and elegant nose of raspberries, vanilla, sweet oak and pepper, this bottling proves to be far from refined in the mouth and is very much bound up in tannin. Its fruit fights hard but in the end succumbs to astringency and is likely to do so for many years hence.
