(1998 Vintage) Good medium ruby. Aristocratic, highly complex nose hints at plum, roast coffee, leather, grilled nuts, tobacco and earth. A bit reticent today but already offers an uncanny amalgamation of density an...
(1998 Vintage) Dense, rich powerful and concentrated. A bouquet of mineral scents, cassis and black currants and earthy, smoky scents.
RP98 Drink 2018-2040 A candidate for the wine of the vintage from this somewhat forgotten year, consumers should be seeking out wines from the Right Bank and Graves as 1998 was a great vintage in those appellations. La Mission’s 1998 exhibits a healthy, opaque blue/purple color with no lightening at the edge. Thirty minutes of aeration brings forth a sensational bouquet of chocolate, cedar, truffles, graphite, blackberries, cassis and incense. La Mission’s so-called scorched earth/charcoal/hot rocks characteristic has not yet appeared. Full-bodied with superb purity, a multilayered texture, sweet tannin, good acidity and a fabulously long finish, this great, young La Mission-Haut-Brion’s finest days are yet to come. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2040.
濃郁的摩卡，巧克力, consistent all the way!
International Wine Cellar(2006 Vintage) Red-ruby. Classic aromas of plum, raspberry, tobacco, smoke and warm stones. Sweet, lush and generous but with the brightness of the vintage. In an essentially easygoing style. Finishes broad and soft, with plenty of ripe, mouthcoating tannins and noteworthy persistence.
International Wine Cellar(1995 Vintage) Rating: 91(+?) - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 78, May/June 1998. Good full red. Pungent redcurrant, mineral, plum, coffee and smoke aromas. Penetrating, firm, and tightly wound, with excellent intensity and delineation of flavor; hiding its density today. Very long and firm on the back end; tannins coat the entire mouth. A strong showing for this wine.
Robert Parker(2000 Vintage) "The 2000 La Mission Haut-Brion is certainly one of the candidates for the wine of the vintage. Its performance was off-the-charts in two separate tastings for this report. Deep blue/purple, with a nose of creme de cassis, floral scents, graphite, and subtle smoke, the wine is pure, deep, sumptuously textured, full-bodied, powerful (although certainly not at the power level of the amazing 2009). This wine certainly transcends its 13% natural alcohol and has the same level of concentration found i...
