(From 2009 Vintage) Classically built, with a compact and fine-tuned frame giving way to rich cassis, black cherry reduction, fig paste, spice box and licorice notes woven with fine tannins, juicy acidity and a firm, minerally spine.
This wine is dark ruby with slight copper reflections. The first nose is an amber bouquet of molasses, coffee, caramel, leather, bay and white pepper, which later evolves to reveal a beautiful presence of very ripe blackberries and grilled orange peels, complimented by peat and earthy minerals. On the finish, roasted coffee beans. On the palate, the attack is hearty, full of bitter chocolate and dark berry jam on a smoky background. The tannins are powerful and firm. The rich flavors remain present throughout the lengthy finish.
