Winemaker's Notes

Three different selections of Petite Syrah clones inter-planted with a multi-ethnic population of other Rhône varietals including Syrah, Carignane, Grenache, Peloursin, and Mouvedre combine to make a unique wine that speaks of the 60-year old vineyard at the Stags' Leap Winery estate. • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2001 Vintage) Here is a mid-sized Merlot that eschews strength and evident extract in favor of polish. Its mild black-cherry themes are given a lift by slightly creamy oak, and, if tending a little to dryness at the finish, it is a pleasant, lightly tannic and wholly useful wine for near- to mid-term drinking.
