    97 is drinking great in 2015. Still has plenty of time left but drinking beautifully now. Tannins have softened and anise is very pronounced on the finish. Soft fruit and a bit of cedar. Awsome wine.

    (From 2005 Vintage) Almost sure to raise controversy with its involving aromas of leather, roasted coffee, scorched chocolate and herbs, this unique offering smacks ever so faintly of Syrah and may not fit the fruity Cabernet model, but its complexity is beyond any argument. It is smooth and supple in feel with plenty of palatal weight and a fine sense of polish, and its neatly fit spine of firm structural tannins is precisely the stuff of fine Cabernet.     (From 1998 Vintage) Warren Winiarski designed Cask 23 as a blend of Fay and SLV, vineyards with two kinds of soil: Therersquo;s a wash of loam at the base of the hills, and volcanic rock up on the ridges. Winiarski thinks of this Cabernet Sauvignon as a blend of ldquo;water blocksrdquo; (loam soils giving smooth, supple character), and ldquo;fire blocksrdquo; (volcanic soils providing a more intensity, fiery side). In this rsquo;98, you can practically smell the astringency in the aroma, the blackness of plum skin, the deep chocolate texture of the tannins all seeming to create a black veil to the richness of the wine. Nothing is revealed, and yet the wine is immensely generous. To gain access to the wine, yoursquo;ll probably need to wait a decade.

    (From 1992 Vintage) Not unlike the previous wine in structure, but much more classic in its delivery of ripe cherry fruit tinged with notes of cola, caramel and an elusive hint of dried flowers that is the patina of successful bottle aging, this one is maturing now and will peak in the next few years. It gets it points for current drinkability.
