(From 2012 Vintage) Fresh aromas of bright red fruits and fresh bay leaf give way to subtler notes of black tea and white pepper. The wine’s round tannins and creamy texture envelop the familiar flavors of fresh cherries with a touch of dark chocolate. This polished and age-worthy wine simultaneously offers a satiny finish and a slight grip of tannin at the close.
A rich, decidedly earthy style of Opus, showing currant, anise, black cherry, mineral, leather and sage flavors that are focused and complex.
Abundant sunlight in the previous vintages produced high fertility in the vine buds and a large crop, which was thinned to the lowest per-acre yield in a decade. Harvest was early and very compact, comprising just 11 days. The wine combines vigor with finesse.
