Wine Description

(2003 Vintage) "This second label of Harlan Estate comes from the estate vineyard, and shares much in common with the main wine, which is a bit more focused and concentrated. the similarities include the briary, wild herb scents of sage and thyme that complex the ripe red cherry pie filling fruit, cocoa, cola and licorice. As with the main wine, the tannins here are gorgeous. this is a balanced, harmonious wine that combines power and elegance."-Wine Enthusiast

(2000 Vintage) Full medium ruby. Spicy, brooding aromas of black- and redcurrant, licorice, mocha and toasty oak. Impressively ripe and rich; very backward yet conveys an impression of low acidity. Finishes firm but with thoroughly lush tannins.

(2002 Vintage) Good full ruby-red. Superripe aromas of sweet, sappy berries; not roasted. Lush, sweet and sappy, with compelling freshness and depth of sappy fruit. This has terrific early appeal as well as a firm structure to support further development in bottle. Finishes with big, chewy, tongue-dusting tannins and superb lingering sweetness of dark berry fruit. The best Maiden vintage yet.
