(From 2008 Vintage) Serpico is a bold, larger-than-life wine, with beautiful aromatic intensity and notes of black fruit, espresso and crushed granite. Some 18 months of oak aging adds elements of dark spice and smoke; and the wine shows firm tannins and a long, polished mouthfeel.
(From 1999 Vintage) "Complexity is the key in this Aglianico-Merlot blend. A hefty richness from the Aglianico combines with a velvety softness from the Merlot, which also supports the midpalate. Flavors of fresh blackberries executed in a modern style couple with dried spices and smoke."-Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Wines of 2002
Antonio Galloni(From 2003 Vintage) "The 2003 is a fascinating Serpico. The wine boasts impressive concentration in its dark, rich fruit. This is an incredibly primary Serpico, with little in the way of tertiary development. Ideally, it is best left alone for another few years, but readers fortunate enough to own this are in for a thrilling ride once the wine opens up a bit. Today it remains tightly coiled but full of potential. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023."

Wine Spectator(From 1999 Vintage) "Rich and glorious red. Built like a brick house. Black in color, with intense aromas of black licorice, berry, toasted oak and black pepper. Full-bodied and concentrated, with fabulous fruit and big, round tannins. Long, long finish. Aglianico. Best after 2004."
