Wine Description

(1997 Vintage) The 1997 Napanook has a deep garnet color with a nose reminiscent of red currant and ripe cherries with hints of mint. Its elegant structure is complimented by a round, lush texture and a long finish. The high percentage of Cabernet Franc and Merlot provide the wine its suppleness and its fresh and complex nose. The wine is enjoyable to drink now or within the next decade. Christian Moueix recommends decanting this wine before serving it to develop its full potential.

(2005 Vintage) By Dominus. 76% Cabernet Sauvignon; 14% Cabernet Franc; 10% Petit Verdot. Although it opens first with a comparatively complex and elegant nose of raspberries, vanilla, sweet oak and pepper, this bottling proves to be far from refined in the mouth and is very much bound up in tannin. Its fruit fights hard but in the end succumbs to astringency and is likely to do so for many years hence.

(2001 Vintage) "The impeccably made 2001 Dominus boasts a dense plum/purple color in addition to a fragrant, promising perfume of cocoa, cedar, coffee, roasted herbs, and copious quantities of black fruits. There are 7,000 cases of this 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot blend. Rich and medium to full-bodied, with sweet but noticeable tannin, a layered mid-palate, and a long finish with obvious tannin, it will require 3-4 years of cellaring. It should last for two decades...
