1997 Château d'Yquem Sauternes

Wine Description

(From 2008 Vintage) There is a lovely purity to the fruit and clear botrytis concentration, if less than in the great years. Has all the hallmarks of a fine, elegant Yquem. A very polished, well-presented sample.

Winemaker's Notes

The 1997's light gold color is accompanied a gorgeous perfume of caramel, honeysuckle, peach, apricot, and smoky wood. Full-bodied and unctuously-textured, with good underlying acidity as well as loads of sweetness and glycerin, it looks to be a great vintage for this renowned Sauternes estate.

(From 1986 Vintage) Rating: 0/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Medium straw; inexpressive nose, some botrytis; medium-bodied, reasonable concentration, quite oaky, modest botrytis, lacks some vigour and verve, almost raisiny on finish, disappointing for Yquem

(From 1982 Vintage) Rating: 0/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Medium gold; reserved nose, slightly petrolly; quite rich, plump, spicy, reasonable concentrated, fine acidity, lemon drops, not as structured as most Yquems; very good length, slightly tarry finish.
