(2008 Vintage) Open fruit, rich, lush and layered, serving up a complex mix of plum, blackberry, black licorice and spices. Full-bodied and supple-textured, ending with a long, persistent finish that keeps repeating the core flavor themes.
Wine SpectatorRating: 95/100 - As reviewed by Wine Spectator on 12/15/00
International Wine CellarRating: 93/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 93, November/December 2000 Bright ruby. Cassis, violet and lightly tarry, spicy oak. Ripe, dense and very concentrated; thick and deep. Not at all overly sweet or dominated by the wood. Has superb material and verve. Finishes very long, with thoroughly ripe tannins. The finest vintage for this wine in a long time, and one that avoids the excesses of (American) oak that have plagued so many recent vintages.
