(From 2004 Vintage) The 2004 Tignanello (85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc) presents a livelier shade of ruby along with fresher aromatics and flavors. Deeply expressive, it reveals black cherries, licorice, tar and sweet toasted oak on a linear, silky-textured frame of great class and elegance, showing outstanding presence on the palate and fine tannins to round out the finish.
Tasted by randyjc on 3/25/2012 & rated 94 points: A beautiful, mature bottle. Dark aromatics of leather and earth followed by a silky mouth feel. Flavors are, again, leather, earth and mature black cherry. The wine teeters between being Brunello and Bordeaux though, due to its age, it had some raisiny character I associate with Amarone. All in all, a marvelous wine. Sorry to see the last of these go. (514 views)
