Château Brane-Cantenac Margaux Grand Cru Classé

Wine Description

(2006 Vintage) Since Henri Lurton took over in 1992, he has made it his mission to produce the best possible wine, reinforcing Brane’s position as a second classified growth in 1855. The result is a fine wine that perfectly expresses its remarkable terroir.

(2006 Vintage) 65% Cabernet Sauvignon; 30% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc. Having read very positive reviews of this wine, we must admit to real disappointment with our sample. Its slightly thin aromas of cherries and dried brush are singularly lacking in richness, and its frontal, less-than-fruity flavors fall right in line. Aging may bring forth the depth we cannot see now, but we are comfortable in letting others take the risk.

(2002 Vintage) Rating: 4/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. What great second wines are about. Easy, plummy, cigar-box flavour. Drink 2011-16. (GW)
