(1996 Vintage) Aromas: Rich blend of jammy berry fruit and chocolate balanced by hints of vanilla, spice and toasted oak. Well developed and forward in character. Flavors: The concentrated, fleshy taste of ripe black cherry predominates with undertones of cassis and sweet oak. Well- integrated tannins envelop a dense core of fruit for a smooth, balanced mouth-feel and long, resonating finish.
Wine Spectator(2002 Vintage) "Elegantly styled with a wonderful sense of balance, it offers a complex core of currant, anise, sage and a splash of vanilla and mocha, finishing with ripe, fine-grained tannins that flex their muscles on the finish. Best from 2006 through 2012."
Wine & Spirits(2001 Vintage) This is the winery's basic Cabernet, but there's nothing common about it. It's dry and complex and moderately ageworthy, a hillside Cabernet that revels in its plush, firm tannins and ripe fruit. There's a minerality that seems to come from the soil, with expressive blackberry, currant, chocolate and anise flavors. Really fine now after a decant, and should develop through this decade.
