1995 Grgich Hills Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Estate Grown

Wine Description

(From 2011 Vintage) Our Cabernet is rich with aromas of balsamic glazed figs, dried rose petals and a touch of green peppercorns. Smooth and rich on the palate with a persistent finish.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2008 Vintage) Each lot is aged separately for several months, and then blended to create a wine that is more complex than its individual parts. After blending, the wine spent another year and half in barrel to completely harmonize before bottling. Elegant and full bodied, the wine’s complex aromas of black berries, black licorice

(From 2003 Vintage) Oozing with sweet, black-cherryish fruit in the nose and on the front of the palate, this two-faced effort gives and then takes away as it heats up and dries out at the finish. Its uneven nature raises concerns about aging even though it has plenty of tannin to lose, and its future is at this point uncertain enough to cost it a chance for a star.

(From 1997 Vintage) (10% Merlot; 4% Cabernet Franc). Mild and narrowly framed faintly raspberry-like fruit is teamed with touches of toast, mint and vanilla in the clean, comparatively low-keyed aromas here. The wine perks up as expected in the mouth, yet its somewhat complex, slightly closed flavors are rather more deep in fruit than first suggested. Still limited by tannin and a bit of acidic stiffness, this one makes a clear case for cellaring and should be held for five or six years.
