Winemaker's Notes

(From 2010 Vintage) The 2010 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has enticing aromas of ripe blackberry, fresh cedar, anise and sweet mint. Dense and structured, its supple tannins are complemented by notes of espresso, unsweetened cocoa and a balanced, silky finish.

The with was tawny colored around the edges. Not much fruit left on the nose, mainly oaky and earthy smells. Tasted tired, slightly past it's prime but still good structure and enjoyable. Tasted Aug 2010.

(From 1999 Vintage) Given the spectacular showing of this wine's older brother in our Centerfold tasting, its placing here comes as a complete surprise and an utter disappointment. Brushy, leathery, dry and somewhat muddy in aromatic tone, this expensive bottling goes from supple at entry to harsh and abrasive at the finish, and it never finds a remotely adequate supply of fruit.
