1994 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2007 Vintage) The 2007 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of black currant, star anise and wild mint. Plush flavors of blackberry, cardamom and bittersweet cocoa are accented by mouth-coating tannins and a luscious finish.

The with was tawny colored around the edges. Not much fruit left on the nose, mainly oaky and earthy smells. Tasted tired, slightly past it's prime but still good structure and enjoyable. Tasted Aug 2010.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 1999 Vintage) Given the spectacular showing of this wine's older brother in our Centerfold tasting, its placing here comes as a complete surprise and an utter disappointment. Brushy, leathery, dry and somewhat muddy in aromatic tone, this expensive bottling goes from supple at entry to harsh and abrasive at the finish, and it never finds a remotely adequate supply of fruit.
