Chateau Montelena Calistoga Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2012 Vintage) Bright red-ruby. At once riper and more medicinal on the nose than the 2011, offering aromas of plum syrup, blueberry and spices. Firm and nicely refined, with an attractive juicy quality to the black fruit and spice flavors. Finishes with rather suave tannins. This cuvee seems to be better than ever, as Bo Barrett has done a good job of leavening the concentrated, black mountain fruit with the softer tannins of cabernet from the valley floor.

tried at Rob/Nat Xmas dinner 2010 - quite possibly best wine at dinner. good dark fruit even after 19 years, also got mushroom/savory/smoky flavors, but well balanced and went perfectly with the meat. RP 95
