This Brut Cava is made up of 50% Macabeo, 35% Parellada, 15% Xarel-lo from the Alt Penedegrave;s region of Spain and made in the megrave;thode traditionnelle. The nose displays plenty of citrus and lemon peel, with a hint of pear as well. The palate consists of creamy lemon custard and toast, with a finish of crisp Granny Smith apples. This is, without a doubt, the best sparkling wine I have ever had for under $10. Segura Viudas continually impresses me with their Cava, and that is why you can always find a bottle in my refrigeratorhellip; because you never know when you may need to celebrate with bubbly. Drink now and oftenhellip; especially with friends.
  • Background
Fruitiness, freshness and complexity are the three principal defining characteristics of Segura ViudasBrut Reserva. The fruit and the freshness stem from the meticulous care with which we handle ourgrapes. These are all picked by hand and brought to the winery in 25kg capacity self draining plasticboxes to prevent grape damage, and the juice possibly oxidising, which would lead to a loss of freshness. The complexity comes from a very special technique, which involves autolysis of the yeast cells inthe base wine for 3 months before bottling, and a second autolysis of the yeast cells for a minimumof 15 months ageing in bottle.

TOP 100 BEST BUYS! – NO. 8 ON THE LIST!“After a soda-like start that may seem aggressive, this one really settles into a groove. The nose blends citrus and wild green-herb aromas, while the palate has perfectly composed orange and peach flavors. The finish is sold and around every turn it holds the road. Great for the price. Imported by Freixenet USA.”
