Winemaker's Notes

To experience CASK 23 is to go on a great journey, showing to perfection the greatness of the land from which it comes. • Wine Spectator
(From 1995 Vintage) "A tremendous effort, ultrarich, supple, complex and concentrated. Delivers a wave of plush currant, black cherry, black olive, sage and spicy flavors that glide across the palate with smooth, silky tannins that have become the trademark of this wine. Contains 95 percent Cabernet, with a touch of Merlot. Best from 2000 through 2010. 1,520 cases made."
  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 1992 Vintage) Not unlike the previous wine in structure, but much more classic in its delivery of ripe cherry fruit tinged with notes of cola, caramel and an elusive hint of dried flowers that is the patina of successful bottle aging, this one is maturing now and will peak in the next few years. It gets it points for current drinkability.
