Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2012 Vintage) Super-concentrated nose of blackberry, kirsch, moist tobacco, subtle incense and sandalwood really light up the senses. The 2013 equally delivers on the palate, with density, persistence, structure and superb concentration of flavor. This is a prodigious wine, one of the best cabernet sauvignons I can recall us making. The stuffing on this will allow it to age beyond any of our lifespans. Nonetheless, the considerable tannins are velvety and the wine pleasurably rolls around the mouth even at this young age (bottled in July 2015). Classic Pride Mountain flavors of dark ripe berries, a range of baking spice nuances, cedar and mocha.

(1996 Vintage) Good deep ruby. Vibrant, floral aromas of blueberry, cassis, black cherry and cedar. Sweet, quite dense and aromatic in the mouth, with a superripe note of chocolate. Very primary and in need of bottle aging. Thoroughly ripe and impressively long on the aftertaste. These two reserve bottlings are superb for the vintage, but will require patience.

(2001 Vintage) Rating: 92(+?) - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 114, May/June 2004 ($56; 100% cabernet sauvignon) Aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant liqueur, black plum and chocolate. Juicy, penetrating and brooding, yet at the same time sweet and seamless. High-pitched, highly concentrated flavors of black fruits and minerals. A powerfully tannic wine that finishes with terrific thrust. Compared to some of the other Pride 2001s, this really demands a few years of cella...
