  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2001 Vintage) 10% Merlot; 8% Cabernet Franc; 4% Malbec; 2% Petit Verdot. Even with the fairly attractive first fruit notes and complex array of characteristics on display here, this wine is surprisingly short on real depth and density in both nose and mouth. Its curt tannins lend structure while adding to the slight dryness that emerges as the wine finishes.
