(2010 Vintage) Light, bright red. Highly pungent bouquet of spicy red fruits, licorice and cured meat. Very spicy and focused, offering bitter cherry and redcurrant flavors and slow-building tannins. Structured but light on its feet, finishing with strong cut and a resonating licorice quality.
Wine & Spirits(2006 Vintage) Rating: 93/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 04/09. This is immediately alluring on the nose, with detailed aromas of dried cherries, leather, pressed flowers and cured meat. It's surprisingly mature for a 2002, but no less enjoyable for it, demonstrating a graceful balance and a subtle, nuanced complexity of flavor. In an age when many producers in the appellation are opting for power over finesse, it's refreshing to taste a top-class Chinon in a restrained, old-fashioned style.
