(1997 Vintage) Rating: 95(+?) - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 90, May/June 2000 Saturated full ruby. Explosive aromas of blackberry, black cherry, bitter chocolate, camphor, black licorice and violet. Extremely dense and thick without being heavy. Superb flavor intensity and depth. The thoroughly ripe tannins coat the entire palate. The slow-mounting, extremely long finish offers wonderful grip and vibrancy. A great vintage for Maya.
  • Decanter
(1997 Vintage) Rating: 5/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Full-bodied and ultra ripe but with great depth, structure and a long finish to give a sense of classic proportion. Sweet blackcurrant fruit, liquorice, raspberry and coffee aromas. Rich texture, firm structure, incredible flavours.
  • Wine Spectator
(1997 Vintage) "Tremendous flavor, dark, ripe, rich and packed with black cherry, currant, anise, cedar and spice. Finishes with firm but deliciously well-integrated tannins. Best from 2003 through 2012. 2,400 cases made."
