(2013 Vintage) 2013 has much in common with many of the vintages from the “mighty nineties.” A dry mild spring induced early stress in the Cabernet vineyards. As summer rolled in, and the fog remained at bay, we moved diligently through the blocks adjusting the vine canopies to maintain dappled sunlight on the developing berries. While nighttime temperatures preserved the acidity that most appreciate in this wine, the consistent warmth of the season is really what drives the flavor profile in this vintage.
very good wine but softer when compared to Dominus 1989 and montelena 1994. wine developed nicely over the evening, picking up a bit more power and taste and time progressed, even though wine was decanted for more than 3 hours. lovely.
vivacious nose and follow through. like a wild teacher next to a straight laced stag leap school kid. nose developed throughout the night giving hints of medicinal herbal tones.
