(From 2012 Vintage) This wine delivers everything we are looking for from a great vintage. The color is an inky purple hue and the wine has aromas of black fruits, baking spices, dark chocolate and leather. The palate is rich and complex, full of flavors of berry pie, mocha, cedar, black pepper and vanilla toast. The texture is creamy, round and full with well structured tannins that are approachable now or will cellar well for decades.
Wine & Spirits(From 1998 Vintage) Rating: 90/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine.
Wine & Spirits(From 2006 Vintage) The same can be said for the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Atlas Peak. That vintage was so good, it is hard to hide all the fruit and character. The wine possesses a dark ruby/purple color, medium body, good elegance and a pleasant personality, but what might have been produced if they took the chains off? These wines should be better than they are. They seem like failsafe sort of efforts, designed for the uncritical shopper, but holding little interest for the serious wine lover. They are well-made and clean, but they are what I call a "single glass" style of wine. While there is nothing wrong with the first glass, there is not enough interest for a second. Actually that is an improvement for Clos du Val where the wines have gone through a sterile period that appears to be coming to an end.
