(From 2013 Vintage) In the mouth the wine shows a gigantic size. The taste attracts attention by the tempting fruit flavors. Going from red berries and black fruits to soft herbs and reglisse. It is elegant and complex at the same time. The flavors constantly grow in strength through the intense concentration. The aftertaste remains lush and has a great abundance of fine fruit flavors.
(From 2004 Vintage) On the nose, the wine is closed and then opens up slowly. Fruity, slightly roasted notes. On the palate, the attack is generous, the wine then evolves a full-bodied balance, with richness and great elegance. A very long, smooth, silky finish.
Robert Parker"Tasted 7 Times Since Bottling With Consistent Notes Broodingly backward and in need of considerable bottle age, the 1988 is a classic expression of Lafite. This deeply-colored wine exhibits the tell-tale Lafite bouquet of cedar, subtle herbs, dried pit fruits, minerals, and cassis. Extremely concentrated, with brilliantly focused flavors and huge tannins, this backward, yet impressively endowed Lafite-Rothschild may well turn out to be the wine of the vintage! Anticipated maturity: 2000-2035."
