Wine Description

Light golden with just the slightest tint of green, the 1983 Rieussec, from an
excellent year for Sauternes, is certainly one of this property's greatest
wines. Well structured with excellent acidity, and a deep, long, rich,
full-bodied, viscous texture, this wine, despite the richness and power, is
neither heavy nor cloying. It has gorgeous balance and a very long, lingering,
spectacular finish. One of the great successes of the vintage. < read more...Light golden with just the slightest tint of green, the 1983 Rieussec, from an

The property is planted 80% of Semillon, 18% Sauvignon and 2% Muscadelle. The method of picking is quite unique. From October to December, the pickers pass through the whole vineyard, time after time, selecting one by one the grapes which have reached the right state of noble rot. It is only at such a price that the necessary concentration of sweetness can be reached to make the Sauternes wines. After fermentation, the wines spend 18 to 30 months in oak barrels renewed each year,

Rating: 0/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Straw-gold; rich nose, heaps of botrytis, apricots, quite oaky and opulent; rich, plump, rounded, quite concentrated, ample botrytis, good acidity too, a touch burly, oaky finish; excellent length.
