Winemaker's Notes

(From 1996 Vintage) With more herbs, cedar, and tea than its ’97 sibling, this vintage offers alluring aromatics and elegantly balanced fruit flavors. In the glass you’ll find deep color with a ring of brick at the edge, as well as a silky texture and maturing fruit, showing plush black currant and dark spice with a long finish.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
The Cabernets of 1985 came with high expectations and were praised by many, ourselves included, for their firmness and ageworthy structures. As it turns, too few really blossomed and too many are as rigid now as they were in there youths. This textbook 1985 wine is very much built in a tighter, arguably refined style, and while still firm at the edges, it needs to be drunk up soon. Originally reviewed at **.
