(From 2006 Vintage)
Aromas of cassis, raspberry, perfume and vanilla are interwoven with tobacco, cedar and cocoa. On the palate the wine is dense and concentrated with a finish that is long and complex.
94 Points, Wine Enthusiast:
"Profile has been an important, but sometimes overlooked, member of the Napa Valley pantheon for many years, and their ’06 shows why. It’s a rich, complex and smooth wine. Packed with blackberry, cassis and smoky, new oak flavors, it shows a firm structure of tannins and acidity. Beautiful now with a grilled steak, and should age well for at least a decade. S.H." 90 Points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate:
"The 2006 Profile (82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) is a beauty. The sweet, ripe tannins nicely frame this large-scaled, full-bodied wine. Its opaque ruby/purple color is followed by a fragrant bouquet of tobacco leaf, spice box, white chocolate, black currants, and plums. Deep, full-bodied, expansive, and savory, it will be even better after several more years of bottle age, and should easily last for two decades or more. This is an impressive group of wines from Merryvale Vineyards, a winery whose offerings I have not tasted for many years." (Dec. 2009)
89 Points, Wine Spectator:
"Tight and structured, firm, full-bodied, with a core of spicy currant, anise, mineral, cedar and sage, succeeding in its delivery of flavor and structure and ending with a touch of red and black licorice. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2016. 2,300 cases made. –JL" (2010)

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2001 Vintage) 65% Cabernet Sauvignon; 27% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc; 3% Petit Verdot. Despite its involving trappings of rich, slightly smoky oak and its attractive touches of olives, earth and herbs, this full and fleshy youngster wants for a more active sense of basic fruit. Still a bit bound up in tannic toughness, it holds out hope for the future, but its parting bow to dryness and its very ambitious price raise just enough doubt in our minds to win it less than unlimited endorsement.
Wine & Spirits(From 2001 Vintage) The 2001 Profile is an excellent wine, but recent vintages are even stronger. The fully mature 2001, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, exhibits a dense plum/garnet color as well as a sweet perfume of tobacco leaf, incense, roasted herbs and red and black currants. Good opulence and a lush texture result in an attractive attack and mid-palate. Then the wine softens and seems fully mature. However, in a cold cellar it will last another 7ndash;10 years.
