1985 Chateau Rauzan Segla Margaux

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2004 Vintage) Rauzan-Segla's finesse-styled 2004 offers raspberry, cherry, forest floor, and dried herb-like characteristics in its deep ruby/purple-hued, medium-bodied personality. With excellent purity, freshness, and precision, it is not a blockbuster claret, but rather a stylish, elegant, accessible effort with sweet tannin.

(From 2000 Vintage) 2eme Cru Classe. Long on sweet oak enrichment and fairly forthright in plump, optimally ripened fruit, this full and fleshy wine is among the more accessible of the bunch. An absolutely delicious wine whose broad, nicely layered flavors suggest black cherries, currants, cocoa, cream and vanilla, it is far from soft in balance, but it so very open and inviting now that many of our panel wondered aloud that it might well hail from Napa Valley.
