Clos du Marquis Saint-Julien

Winemaker's Notes

(From 1985 Vintage) A fabulous wine; one of the first great Las Cases. Full-bodied and rich, with the tannins extremely well integrated into an impressive background of fruit.

(From 2005 Vintage) The superb second wine, the 2005 Clos du Marquis, reflects the utter brilliance of the 2005 grand vin. It boasts an inky/ruby/purple color along with a sweet perfume of lead pencil, ripe cherries and black currants, and hints of earth and vanillin. Dense, chewy, fleshy, and full-bodied, this beauty will be drinkable in 3ndash;4 years, and should keep for 15ndash;20.

(From 1970 Vintage) Rating: 0/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Fairly deep red, some maturity; sweet elegant cedary nose, vanilla, lovely fruit, ample lift and flair; medium-bodied, elegant, good acidity, compact, lacks some richness but vigorous; quite good length. Some bottles have been more faded and lean.
